The claim sounds unrealistic: quote any BOM, regardless of complexity, in under 60 minutes. Most quoting professionals have spent years assuming complex jobs take days. Here’s what actually happens when that assumption is tested with a 400-line BOM, a pile of obsolete parts, and a clock.
Complexity has dimensions: line count, format quality, share of obsolete or hard-to-find parts, non-standard form factors, multi-revision lists, and customer-specific alternate requirements. Some of these genuinely need human judgment. Most of them only look hard, and are fully automatable.
A representative session on a complex BOM: 0-2 min, upload and format detection; 2-5 min, automated normalization and cross-reference; 5-15 min, real-time pricing across hundreds of suppliers; 15-25 min, alternates surfaced for unavailable or overpriced parts; 25-40 min, human review of flagged exceptions; 40–55 min, cost model applied and quote formatted; 55–60 min, final review and send.
Honestly: some BOMs won’t make it, those with large custom/proprietary content, customer-specific tooling-cost analysis, or significant engineering ambiguity.
